Hold The Nozzle When Filing Up The Car

Take this advice seriously and do not to think it will not happen to you.
When I need to fill up my petrol tank, I would always go to my
regular petrol station where the attendant has become a rather good
friend and he will obligingly hold the nozzle and ensure no problem
arises.
If you are afraid to ask for help, then hold that nozzle tightly as you fill up.
Always hold that petrol nozzle tightly when pumping - don't be lazy.
Two weeks ago a friend patronized a new station, and as his usual practice, would put the nozzle on automatic mode, and just stood by waiting for his tank to fill up. Suddenly and without warning, the nozzle flew out of the tank opening spewing petrol at high speed and in all directions.
He was sprayed all over, including his face and eyes. Just imagine the pain and agony he suffered on his eyes. His companion quickly rushed him to toilet and helped wash his face. They reported the incident to the staff and asked to speak to the manager. The manager refused to see them and instead instructed one of his staff to take our friend to the hospital.
According to the staff, that similar incident of the nozzle flying out, was not a first time occurrence, and what our friend experienced was by far the worst. The top layer of his right eye was severely burnt and had to be bandaged for 10 days.
In the end, the injury was so bad that he lost sight of both eyes completely and became blind. Apparently the nozzle used was a lighter version compared to the normal ones. The speed of the petrol flow had created a backward thrust and pushed the nozzle out of the tank causing the spew.
So please be very careful when you are filling up your tank, just hold on tightly to the nozzle and not let go until you you're finished. Share this info with all your friends, family & love ones.
It does not hurt to know !
