There were four Catholic men and a Catholic woman having coffee.
The first Catholic man tells his friends, "My son is a priest, when he walks into a room, everyone calls him Father".
The second Catholic man chirps, "My son is a Bishop. When he walks into a room, people call him Your Grace".
The third Catholic gent says, "My son is a Cardinal. When he enters a room, everyone says Your Eminence".
The fourth Catholic man then says, "My son is the Pope. When he walks into a room people call him Your Holiness".
Since the lone Catholic woman was sipping her coffee in silence, the four men give her a subtle, "Well....?"
She proudly replies, "I have a daughter, Slim, Tall, 38D breast, 24 inch waist and 34 inch hips.
When she walks into a room people say, "Oh My God!"
The Book of Catholic Jokes (Paperback)
by Tom Sheridan
Yes, this book contains priest jokes and sister jokes and deacon jokes and bishop jokes and even one or two jokes that feature the Pope. But mostly these are jokes about lay people and the foibles of daily life from a Catholic (that is, Roman Catholic tradition) and a catholic (that is, universal and about everybody) perspective.
These jokes are clean and not mean and not intended to offend anyone. But if you can't laugh at yourself or the human condition, then you'd be better off skipping this book. If, however, you think some of the stuff we humans do is funny, and if you admit that the Catholic Church is full of human beings, then perhaps The Book of Catholic Jokes is for you.
About the Author
Deacon Tom Sheridan is the former editor of The Catholic New World, the newspaper of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Father Gregory Sakowicz, the pastor of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, wrote the Foreword.
Review
I am a lector in our church. Often at the end of mass I am
called on to tell a joke -- clean, of course -- so the members
can leave in a happy mood -- which I think is a great idea.
So once every two weeks I select a joke from the Catholic Joke
Book. The members love the jokes and so does the priest. It
is great to see so many people leaving in a happy mood. Thanks
for the book. --S. Stremmel
