Masjid Negara Gets RM9.5 million for Renovation
Thursday 20 May 2010
The Federal Malaysian Government has approved an immediate allocation of RM9.5 million to renovate the National Mosque. Work includes
- repairing the roof
- drainage system
- toilets
- loudspeaker system
- beautifying the mosque and the nearby Warriors Mausoleum
- informational signboards with historic comments, especially about the national leaders who are buried in the National Warriors Mausoleum.
Malaysian Works Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor says that the renovation is expected to begin in June 2010 and was expected to be completed by December this year.
Shaziman said the allocation would also be used to put up additional signboards giving, among others, the history of the leaders buried there.
