Muzium Negara - Betel Set

Betel Set or Tepak Sirih

This set includes 5 small containers, a box for sirih (betel pepper) and a pair of gold-plated betel nut scissors.

Two of the small containers have lids and are shaped like mangosteens. The containers are used to hold condiments that goes with betel, namely betel nuts, gambier, tobacco, cloves and lime.

The sirih box is used for keeping the betel pepper leaves so. The sets helps the betel chewers to organise the the necessary ingredients in a place.
