KTMB or Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad ordered 40 of these 22 Class Locomotives from England Electric of Great Britain and the first entered service in 1971. The purchase was part of a 'dieselisation' programme intended to replace all the existing steam locomotives with diesel ones.

Lokomotif Kelas 22 English Electric Diesel

The 22 Class locomotives are capable of pulling a maximum load of 1,200 tonnes and were primarily used to work on heavy trains hauling cement logs and fuel.

Maximum Gross Weight: 13,000 lb

Maximum Speed: 60 mph

Manufactured by: English Electric AE1 Ltd, Strand Road, Preston, PRI 8XL England

KL today unfortunately is very congested. Overcrowded. Traffic jams, pollution etc. And the crime in KL is not good. Not safe in certain areas.
